Mark Few's Gonzaga Bulldogs went 26-7 during the regular season including a 14 game win streak which helped them secure the WCC regular season championship.  Three wins to wrap up the WCC Tournament landed the Zags a 12 seed in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament.

Waiting for them was 5 seed Virginia.  Gonzaga won 86-85 on the back of Dan Dickau's 29 points.  A win 2 nights later against Indiana State put the Bulldogs in the Sweet 16 where they would lose to #1 Michigan State.
